Dancers raise over £1600 for local charities

Amateur dancers from our dance classes for adults across Worcestershire & Warwickshire have raised over £1600 for local charities at our annual Spring Gala event. 44 dancers took to the stage, ranging in age from their 30s to their 70s. The dancers all attend dance classes for adults with Helena Jane Classes & Coaching. They performed a number of routines in ballet, tap and theatre dance styles, set to music from the musicals, at the event at The Norbury Theatre Droitwich on Saturday 11th May. Some of the dancers had previous performing experience, but for many it was their first time on stage!

The Spring Gala, which also featured guest performances, cream teas and a charity raffle, was held in aid of two local charities: Sight Concern Worcestershire & Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust. The charities were voted for by members of the dance classes.

Organiser Helena Mitchell said of the event: “Everyone had a fabulous day! The dancers performed brilliantly, the audience had a great time and we raised even more for our charities than last year. Thanks so much to everyone who supported the gala!”

The dancers involved in the performance attend weekly dance classes for adults in ballet, tap and theatre dance in locations including Redditch, Droitwich, Evesham, Alcester, Henley-in-Arden and Stratford-upon-Avon. 2024 is the second year the Spring Gala has been running, and the dancers are planning to do it all again next year!
