Tap dancers from across Worcestershire & Warwickshire have raised £570.25 for BBC Children in Need by taking part in a nationwide ‘Tapathon’ event on 23rd November.

The dancers, all of whom attend our tap dance classes for adults, danced a routine to Tina Turner’s Nutbush City Limits at the same time as other tap dance groups across the UK. The event was held at Inkberrow Village Hall and 25 dancers took part.
The dancing was followed by a bake sale to raise further funds.

Dance teacher and organiser Helena Mitchell said: “The Tapathon was a great opportunity for dancers from our classes to get together, and wonderful to know that we were dancing at the same time as groups all over the country, raising funds to help an important cause.”
Across the UK, 7,438 dancers took part in the Tapathon on the same day raising over £37,000 in total.
Tapathon, organised by The Performers Project, is now a firm date in the annual dancing calendar, gaining huge numbers of participants nationwide. Tap dancing enthusiasts of all ages and tap dancing abilities come together to perform the choreographed routines at the same time, on the same day.

Helena Jane Classes & Coaching offers tap dance classes for adults in Stratford-upon-Avon, Inkberrow, Offenham and Redditch. See the timetable here.
